Meet Steffany: A Work of Three
Holy Spirit, you are welcomed here. That feels like a good place to begin.
Because if you want to understand Steffany’s work, you need to know more than the techniques she uses. You need to know what matters to the woman whose hands you are trusting.
Steffany Medina is a licensed massage therapist at The Well Place in Piedmont, South Carolina. In the Release Room, she offers massage therapy, trauma-informed bodywork, somatic release, fascia therapy, and cupping, with gua sha and scraping among her hands-on techniques. Her work begins with what you want from your appointment and what feels comfortable for your body.
Maybe your shoulders have been asking for attention all week or you are curious about cupping, interested in fascia therapy, or ready to book a massage and put your phone away for a while. Knowing what someone offers matters, but so does knowing the person you are booking with.
A work of three
Steffany describes her work as a work of three: Her. You. The Holy Spirit.
She brings her hands, her training, and her gift. You bring yourself, with whatever you would like to share and whatever you would rather keep private. And she makes room for the Holy Spirit’s leading.
Her faith is part of the way she approaches care. It shapes her desire to be present, attentive, and open to what the person in front of her needs.
For Steffany, bodywork is work she can bring to God. A skill to practice with care but also gift to steward.
Massage and bodywork with Steffany
The Release Room is where you come for hands-on care. Steffany’s work includes:
Massage therapy: Her background includes deep tissue and Swedish massage, along with hot stone therapy. Talk with her about the areas you want attention on, your preferred pressure, and the session that fits.
Fascia therapy: Bodywork focused on fascia, the connective tissue surrounding and supporting muscles and other structures.
Cupping: A technique that uses cups and suction on the skin as part of a bodywork session.
Trauma-informed bodywork and somatic release: An approach that makes room for body awareness, your preferences, and clear communication. You can ask questions, request a change, or pause without having to explain your personal history. Completely Holy Spirit led.
Gua sha and scraping: Tool-assisted techniques that use strokes over the skin. These names can overlap; ask Steffany which method she uses and what it involves.
You do not need to arrive with a list of techniques you want combined. Start with what you are looking for. If you have a particular service in mind, check the appointment description or ask before booking. The technique, time, and pressure should fit the session you choose.
You can always tell her what you need
“I would like more attention on my shoulders.”
“I prefer lighter pressure.”
“I have never tried cupping. What should I expect?”
Those are useful things to say. So is “Can we pause?”
The care behind the techniques
Your appointment starts with a conversation about what you booked, what you would like from the session, and anything relevant to your comfort or care. Tell Steffany about recent procedures or health concerns that could affect bodywork, and ask about preparation and aftercare for your chosen service.
You can ask questions throughout. You can request a change in pressure. You can say what feels good and what does not. You do not have to sit quietly through something because you think that is how it is supposed to feel.
Why her work belongs at The Well Place
My work centers on precision wellness strategies that work. Steffany’s work centers on massage and hands-on bodywork - which I have found to be crucial to releasing the thing that we tend to hold onto in our bodies. The body does keep score. We share a faith and a desire to offer care that is personal, thoughtful, and useful in everyday life. Real relief that is not void of the God who heals.
You can book with Steffany on her own in The Release Room. If massage, fascia therapy, cupping, or tool-assisted bodywork is what you are looking for, the Release Room is the place to start.
Steffany and I also LOVE to work together through our Scan and Release Sessions. I, Dr. Kaylan read your body live and walks you through what I see, then hands you into scan-guided bodywork. Steffany works exactly what the read surfaced, drawing from fascia, gua sha, cupping, heat therapy with stones. The scan tells us what you are holding. This session helps you put it down. Something you cannot get by booking the two apart.
If you’re looking for lymphatic drainage or Nervous System Resets, that appears on our Remedy Room menu. Explore the studio to see that room’s offerings and choose the appointment that matches what you need.
Come meet her!
Steffany’s room is part of the place we are building for the woman who needs a little space to exhale.
Space to be cared for, ask for what she needs. But surely a place where faith can be present in the ordinary work of caring for a person. You do not have to have the words for everything. Come as you are.
